Non-residential guests and visitors are very welcome to join us for drinks or dining at Amberley Castle. To avoid disappointment, we invite you to reserve a table prior to your visit.
Car
From Arundel, follow signs to London and take the third exit at the roundabout onto the B2139 towards Amberley. Look for the white Relais & Châteaux flag on the left marking the entrance. From Storrington, take the B2139 towards Amberley from the Tesco roundabout. Ignore signs for "Amberley Village" and look for the Relais & Châteaux flag on the right. Follow the driveway to the castle.
Train
Direct trains run hourly from London Victoria to Amberley Station (approx. 1 hr 20 min). As there are no taxis at the station, we recommend arranging a taxi in advance—our reception team will be happy to assist.
Air
From Gatwick Airport (approx. 1 hour / 35 miles):
Take the M23 south, continuing onto the A23. Exit onto the A272 and follow signs to Haywards Heath and Petersfield. Join the A24 south towards Worthing. At Washington, take the A283 to Storrington, then follow the B2139 to Amberley. Look for Castle Lane on your right to reach the castle entrance.
From Heathrow Airport (approx. 90 minutes / 60 miles):
Join the M25 south, exiting for the A24 via Leatherhead and Dorking. Continue south through Horsham and Worthing. At Washington, take the A283 towards Storrington, then the B2139 to Amberley. Castle Lane will appear on your right, leading directly to the castle.
Although your room is available to check-in from 3pm, and check-out is at 11am on the day of departure, guests are welcome to arrive earlier or stay after they have checked out to enjoy the hotel lounges or explore Amberley Castle’s gardens, grounds and local walks.
While dogs are welcome to enjoy our grounds and local walks, they are not permitted in the terrace, the public areas, or the restaurant. Please keep them on a lead if walking through the grounds.
Guide dogs and accredited assistance dogs are welcome throughout the hotel.
Children of all ages are welcome at Buckland Manor, with infants (0–2) staying free. Children aged 3–16 will be charged the same rate (e.g. bed & breakfast) as the adults on their booking.
Children are welcome in the restaurant until 8:00pm, with last orders by 7:00pm. Alongside our Garden Menu for V.I.L.Ps (Very Important Little People), smaller portions from any of our main menus are also available.
We can offer a complimentary laundry service, dry and fold, but unfortunately at the moment we are unable to take in any delicate items of clothing. Your items will be returned to you within 24 hours. If you need an iron and ironing board, please also contact Reception.
Yes, we have two rooms that have a connecting door that we can open when requested, called Rye and Hastings. They are subject to availability, so please call us on 01798 831992 and speak to a member of our team to make your booking.
Our Gatehouse Suites are our family orientated rooms, as they have a separate lounge where we have sofa beds and can fit extra travel beds if necessary, fitting comfortably families of up to four.
Breakfast is served between 7:30am until 10:00am in the Queens Room. We do not require booking a time for breakfast so feel free to go into our restaurant at your best convenience and a member of staff will greet you.
The dress code for dinner at Amberley Castle is smart casual. While many gentlemen choose to wear jackets, smart jeans with a jacket are also welcome. We kindly ask guests to avoid very casual attire, such as flip flops, to help maintain the special dining experience.

Yes, in reception we keep a folder full of maps and ideas for you to enjoy your stay and explore the area, please make sure to speak to our reception team and we will give you a selection of maps and friendly advice.
You are free to smoke outside on our terrace, at any time, please ask a member of staff for an ashtray. Please do not smoke or vape inside our public rooms or inside your own room. Smoking indoors is prohibited and will incur a charge.

Tennis: No pre-booking required. Please ask the reception team for tennis racquets and balls when you are ready to play. Croquet: No pre-booking required. If you need any assistance or help with the rules, our reception team will be happy to help.
18-hole putting course: No pre-booking required. Please let Reception know when you are ready to play, and they will provide you with all the necessary equipment.
Yoga: No pre-booking required. Collect a mat and yoga guide from Reception and head out into the great outdoors to dive into your yoga practice at your own pace.
Bicycle Hire: we recommend contacting Riverside Downs Bikes directly on https://www.riversidesouthdowns.com/bikes, as you will have to book it in advance and pay directly with them. They are only a 10/15-minute walk away from us here at Amberley Castle and can offer bikes and e-bikes for you.
