The Restaurant

Amberley Castle has a long held reputation for delivering outstanding cuisine, our restaurant is the first choice for special occasions, family celebrations and intimate dinners amongst the residents of Arundel.

Our Dining Rooms
The magnificent Queen's Room is the principle dining room, with a barrel-vaulted ceiling dating back to the 12th century. A live fire lights the room during the winter months.

The Great Room, built in 1165 by Bishop Luffa of Chichester, is a fine example of Norman architecture, with its high lancet windows, open fireplace, oak flooring, tapestry and suits of armour.

Both rooms are outstanding and their ancient character creates an ambience which is unique to Amberley Castle, the perfect setting for Castle cuisine.

Whichever dining room becomes your own personal favourite, you will be assured of a very fine gastronomic experience.

Head Chef - James Duggan

James Duggan worked in Michelin starred establishments in London and Hampshire before becoming Head Chef at Amberley Castle, only a few miles from where he grew up. James makes his food fun by creating classic British dishes from his customers childhood and giving them an exciting modern twist. His hugely popular afternoon tea service is no different, re-inventing classic dishes such as the Chelsea bun and giving them a contemporary twist.

James uses mainly local produce in season, which he painstakingly searches out himself where necessary. His dishes are different, interesting and delicious. 'Thrilling, but filling' is how one food writer put it, which is exactly right.
